CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's soccer team
and head coach Bret Boulware have announced the men's soccer schedule for the
2012 season, a 19-match campaign that features a Division I-era record nine home
contests at Martin Stadium.
“The 2012 schedule will provide us with a well-rounded group
of matches and we're looking forward to our trip out West to Colorado.” said
Boulware. “Martin Stadium will also see a lot of competitive contests with some
of the top teams in the region and we're excited to compete for a championship in the
Big South Conference.”
The Blue Hose first travel to Wofford for a preseason scrimmage
on Wednesday, August 15, before beginning the season with a three-match
homestand.
PC begins the 2012 campaign at home on Friday, August 24
against Furman. The Blue Hose scored a goal against the nationally-ranked
Paladins last year before falling early in the season. PC then welcomes the
newest Big South Conference member Longwood in an early league matchup on
Tuesday, August 28.
The home stretch comes to an end when East Tennessee State
comes to Laurens County on Friday, August 31. The contest will serve as a
rematch of the 2011 season opener.
PC hits the road for the next four matches, beginning with a
short trip to USC Upstate on Monday, September 3, followed by a matchup against
Mercer on Saturday, September 8.
The Blue Hose then fly to Colorado for a pair of contests in
the Centennial State. PC takes on Denver on Friday, September 14 before playing
Air Force on Sunday, September 16.
Two home dates await the Blue Hose next, first against
Davidson on Friday, September 21 followed by a match against Georgia Southern
on Wednesday, September 26. PC and Davidson did not play each other in 2011 and
this meeting marks the first since 2010.
The bulk of the Big South Conference schedule begins on
Saturday, September 29, with a road contest against Coastal Carolina. Five days
later, the Blue Hose host UNC Asheville on Wednesday, October 3.
PC next travels to Radford on Saturday, October 6, and will
look to replicate last season's result, a 2-1 victory over the Highlanders. The
Blue Hose return for a pair of home contests against Winthrop on Tuesday,
October 9, and Liberty on Friday, October 12.
The squad plays its final non-conference game on Tuesday,
October 16, with a trip to Duke. PC then battles Campbell on Saturday, October
20. The Camels will have revenge on their minds after the Blue Hose took a 3-2
overtime win in 2011 at Martin Stadium.
PC plays its final home match of the season with a Saturday
night contest against High Point on October 27. The regular season ends with
trips to Gardner-Webb on Wednesday, October 31, and VMI on Saturday, November
3.
The Big South Conference tournament begins at campus sites on
Tuesday, November 6 and runs through Sunday, November 11 at a site to be
announced.
