CHARLOTTE, N.C. ? Presbyterian College had 154 of its student-athletes named to the 2007-08 Big South Conference Presidential Honor Roll it was announced by Big South Commissioner Kyle B. Kallander on Tuesday.
“Being named to the Big South's Presidential Honor Roll is a significant achievement for these 154 student-athletes,” noted PC Director of Athletics Dr. William B. Carlton. “This honor recognizes the dedication of these men and women to their studies. It is gratifying to know that so many of our student-athletes are willing to make sacrifices necessary to achieve academic excellence. This also acknowledges the work of the faculty, staff and coaches who support these students each day in the classroom and around the campus. The support of these mentors is integral to allowing each student-athlete achieve his or her highest potential.”
To be named to the Presidential Honor Roll, student-athletes must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better for the recently-completed academic year. The 44.0 percentage marks the fourth-straight year above the 40 percent threshold.
Overall, the Big South Conference placed 1,224 out of 2,784 student-athletes ? 44.0 percent -- on its prestigious annual Presidential Honor Roll list for the 2007-08 academic season.
“The Big South Conference has always taken a lot of pride in the academic accomplishments of its student-athletes,” said Kallander. “To have nearly half of all student-athletes make the Presidential Honor Roll for the fourth consecutive year is a reflection of the outstanding individuals in the Conference and their priorities. We are all extremely proud of the achievements of these fine young men and women.”
