CLINTON, S.C. ? Freshman wide receiver Sean Adegbola led the offense in PC's second scrimmage of the preseason on Tuesday afternoon at Bailey Memorial Stadium, catching three passes for 20 yards or more. All three passes were thrown to Adegbola from redshirt-sophomore Parker Fleming.
The duo first connected early in the scrimmage when Fleming (Atlanta, Ga.) aired out a throw down the right sideline that met with a streaking Adegbola (Loganville, Ga.) for a 30-yard touchdown.
Fleming was able to find Adegbola for a 46-yard reception down the right sideline again and then ended his throws to the Grayson High School product by finding Adegbola for a 23-yard catch.
Fleming threw for a total of two touchdowns in the scrimmage. He found junior tight end Sam Wilson (Clinton, S.C.) for a 13-yard touchdown halfway through the scrimmage. Wilson also caught a two-point conversion pass from redshirt-freshman quarterback Brandon Miley (Wilmington, N.C.).
Miley had one touchdown pass in the scrimmage, finding true freshman Mickey Brewer (Charlotte, N.C.) for a 17-yard touchdown.
Senior wide receiver/running back Chetyuane Reeder (Clinton, S.C.) played well in the scrimmage, scoring on a one-yard touchdown run. He also had a run of 20 yards on a handoff from junior quarterback Tim Webb (Lugoff, S.C).
Wilson was one of two Blue Hose to score on a running play as sophomore running back Travis Caldwell (Boiling Springs, S.C.) also scored on a two-yard rush late in the scrimmage.
Senior running back George Mathis (Aiken, S.C.) did not score, but he did haul in a 45-yard pass from Miley.
Defensively, freshman defensive back Darius Lawrence (Jacksonville, Fla.) acquired an interception, returning it 15 yards down the opposing sideline.
Senior defensive lineman Adam McKinney (Augusta, Ga.) had one sack in the scrimmage.
Bryson Summers (West Columbia, S.C.) punted well for the Blue Hose on Tuesday afternoon. Summers had a 50 and 47-yard punt.
Blue Hose junior linebacker Chris Hackney (Marietta, Ga.) blocked a field goal attempt during special teams practice.
The Blue Hose will hold their final preseason scrimmage at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Bailey Memorial Stadium.
The third and final scrimmage of preseason practice for PC will serve as Fan Day for the Blue Hose.
Beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, Coach Bentley and the rest of the Blue Hose will join all in attendance in their efforts to “Paint It Blue” in 2008. The Blue Hose players and coaching staff will be available to sign the 2008 Blue Hose football schedule poster and to discuss the 2008 Blue Hose football season.
Gates open at 12 p.m. for “Paint It Blue” day. There will be special giveaways during the afternoon along with attractions for the children in attendance.
After the 2008 Blue Hose introduce themselves to everyone in attendance, PC will take to the gridiron at approximately 2:30 p.m.
All PC scrimmages are open to the public. They are also subject to change due to weather and other factors. Please check PC's official athletic website at www.GoBlueHose.com for updates.
The Blue Hose open their 2008 season with a game against 2007 SoCon regular season champion and FCS playoff participant Wofford at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30 at Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C.
PC's game with Wofford renews an old rivalry. The Blue Hose and Terriers have played 80 times in their history, but not since the 1996 season. PC holds a slight 40-37-3 all-time series advantage over the SoCon school.
