Wetherington Homers in Setback at Gardner-Webb

Boiling Springs, N.C. – Sophomore Jay Wetherington connected on his third homer of the season against Gardner-Webb but the Presbyterian College baseball team came out on the wrong end of an 11-3 contest on Friday night at Bill Masters Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
- Gardner-Webb opened the scoring on Friday with five runs in the fourth inning to take the early advantage. 
- The host added four runs in the fifth to push their lead out to 9-0 after five innings. 
- The Blue Hose got on the board in the sixth with a two-run homer off the bat of Jay Wetherington after Kyle Decker reached on a double.
- Dalton Reeves added an RBI single in the eighth to cut the deficit to 9-3 after 7.5 innings. 
- The Runnin' Bulldogs added two in the eighth en route to the 11-3 series-opening victory on Friday night in Boiling Springs. 
 
NOTABLES
- Wetherington's homer in the sixth inning was the third of the season for the Blue Hose 
- The Blue Hose sophomore outfielder pushed his hit streak to a team-high five games in a row with his homer.
- Senior Darien Rorabeck totaled five strikeouts over 2.2 innings of work out of the bullpen on Friday night. 
- Eric Toth tied the team lead with his 16th stolen base after drawing a hit by a pitch in the sixth inning. 12 of Toth's stolen bases have occurred in Big South play.
