The Blue Hose are averaging 2.60 goals per game. Their 13 goals in 2018 matches their season totals from 2009 and 2011 with 11 regular season games remaining. Their Division I best was 30 goals scored in 2015.

 

Big South Honors

 

Senior Kelsey Yeager received “Attacking Player of the Week” honors in back-to-back weeks after scoring a personal-best five goals over the first four games of the season. The Blue Hose are 3-0 when Yeager scores a goal this season.

 

Freshman Megan Serrano was named “Freshman of the Week” on August 27 after back-to-back six-save efforts and picking up her first collegiate win over The Citadel on August 26.

 

Scoring In Bunches

 

The Blue Hose have scored two or more consecutive goals in four of their five games this season. PC scored four against SC State (9/4), three against The Citadel (8/26) and Alabama State (8/31), and recorded a pair of late, unanswered goals against Mercer (9/2).

 

Leading By Example

 

All three seniors, Kelsey Yeager, Megan Archer and Mallory Hopkins, scored to lead PC to a 3-1 victory over Alabama State on August 31.

 

Scoring Breakdown

 

Six different Blue Hose have scored a goal in 2018, while four more have recorded assists. Kelsey Yeager leads the team with a personal-best 10 points on five goals and two game winners. Morgan Hutchison is close behind with six points (3G) and one game winner. Mallory Hopkins has four points (2G), and Peyton Patterson has three points (1G, 1A). Megan Archer each have two points off one goal, while Preston Robinette leads the team with two assists.

 

Scouting the Terriers

 

Wofford edged USC Upstate 2-1 on Friday night. The Spartans needed just 95 seconds to take a 1-0 lead, but the Terriers tied the game on a goal from Emma Fletcher (21') and won on a goal from Dani Segovia (81').

 

The Terriers dropped a 3-0 game to Clemson on September 2 after being outshot 20-5 for the match. They picked up their win the game before, a 4-0 shutout, at Alabama A&M on Aug. 31.

 

Dani Segovia leads the team with six points off three goals. Maria Mon and Mayson Liner have split time in goal. Mon leads the team with a 1-1-0 record, 1.43 goals against average, 27 saves and 0.818 save percentage.

 

Series History

 

The Blue Hose picked up a 3-2 win last season behind three points from Kelsey Yeager (1G, 1A) and nine saves from Alyssa Leaman. However, Wofford holds an 8-3 advantage in the series history.
