CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Presbyterian College senior defender Kelsey Yeager (Greenville, S.C.) has been named the Big South Women’s Soccer Attacking Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, it was announced by the conference office. The senior defender has scored a personal-best five goals already this season and shares the conference lead for goals scored.
Yeager tallied three goals and led the women's soccer team (3-1) to a pair of victories last week. The senior first knocked in a 37th minute penalty kick to tie the game in an eventual 3-1 home triumph over Alabama State on Friday. Then, on Sunday, she scored a pair of late second-half goals in a come-from-behind road victory over Mercer. Yeager first tied the game with a 74th minute long-distance shot that bounced over the goalkeeper to find the back of the net. She then added her second game-winner of the season in the 86th minute when her free kick found the back of the net and clinched the 2-1 win. In both matches last week, the center back played all 90 minutes.
The Blue Hose and Yeager will play next at SC State on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
