CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s soccer team announced Wednesday the signing of seven players to National Letters of Intent to join the Blue Hose in the fall of 2017.

“We are very proud to be adding this group of young women to our program,” said head coach Brian Purcell. “They are all talented soccer players as well as exceptional students. I know they will continue our rich tradition of excellence in the classroom, competitiveness on the field, and service in the community.”

Preston Robinette, a midfielder from Maryville, Tenn., is a four year varsity player that reached the state semifinals her junior year and state quarterfinals her senior year at Maryville High School. This past season, she led her team in assists and was named District Player of the Year, Region Player of the Year, All-County, All-District, All-Region, All-State, All-Prep Extra, and was selected for the East vs. West All-Star Game. Robinette is an AP Scholar with Distinction and a member of the National Honors Society. She was President of the Junior Classical League and a member of the Maryville Scholar’s Bowl Team. Robinette played club soccer for FC Alliance and was also a member of the Tennessee ODP team.

Isabelle Russell, a midfielder from Greenville, S.C., started all four years at Riverside High School. She played club for CESA 98’ ECNL, qualifying for the Elite Clubs National League nationals twice and earning a Disney Showcase title. Russell is a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and Beta Club. She volunteered with Friends of Soccer and the Salvation Army.

Morgan Hutchison, a forward from Athens, Tenn., is a four year starter who earned a sub-state championship her senior year at McMinn County High School. She set a school record for most goals in a single season (38). Hutchison was named District Offensive MVP, First Team All-Region, All-State, Coaches’ All-State, All-Prep XTRA, Wendy’s High School Heisman Award recipient, Southeast Bank Athlete of the Month, Golden Boot recipient, and was the team captain. She was an honor roll student, served as Lifeskills J-Teens Chaplain, and performed community service during mission trips. Hutchison played club for FC Alliance, where she was a state finalist.

Jessica Powell, a midfielder from Augusta, Ga., has been a starter at Augusta Preparatory Day School since eighth grade and was a GISA 4AAA State Champion for three consecutive years (2014, 2015, and 2016). She was named the Augusta Chronicle Player of the Year for 2016 and earned All-State honors. Powell is a member of the National Honor Society, is a 2016 WJBF News Channel 6 Scholar Athlete, and received Magna Cum Laude, the National Latin Exam Award, the Spanish Exam Bronze Award, and Special Honors in Biology and Chemistry. She also was a member of the Spanish Club, Service Club, and the APDS Mentoring Program. Powell played club soccer for both Augusta Arsenal and Atlanta Fire United, winning the Athena A championship with Augusta Arsenal in 2016.

Chloe Cobb, a defender from Columbia, S.C., is a five-year starter at Cardinal Newman High School, where she won a state title in 2016. A team captain her junior and senior years, she earned All-Region, All-State, and All-Star honors last season. Cobb is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, the National Honor Society, and is a Presbyterian College Junior Fellow Scholar. She participated in Alpha Theta Club, Pep Club, French Club, the Athletic Leadership Committee, Prom Committee, and Year Book. Cobb played club soccer for South Carolina United FC and reached the State Cup Finals in 2015.

Kristen Bane, a defender from Columbia, S.C., is a four-year starter at Irmo High School. She was named to the South Carolina Region IV All-Region Team her junior and senior years and earned the Irmo Girls Soccer Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2015. A Junior Marshall and member of the National Honor Society, Bane participated in Beta Club, the National Society of High School Scholars, First Priority Christian Club, YoungLife, Sophomore and Junior Board, and Health Occupations Students of America. She played club soccer for the SCUFC 98 Elite team, making a State Championship appearance in 2015 and a State Semi-final appearance in 2016.

Samantha Britt, a forward from Greenville, S.C., earned All-Region honors two years in a row as well as  Coaches Award at Brashier Middle College Charter High School, lettering twice. She played club for CESA 98’ ECNL, where she made Regionals three years in a row. Britt participated in the Middle College National Consortium, Yoga, and performed 200 hours of community service.
