Clinton, S.C. - Presbyterian battled in the first half as it was within three at 9-6 with 4:22 to play in the first half but Campbell went on a 12-1 run to finish the game and win 21-7 on the Blue Hose's Senior Day in Bailey Memorial Stadium. Sophia Cuzzupe finished with a season high nine saves which was one away from her career high of 10 versus Cincinnati in 2016.

Player of the Game

Freshman Kelly Hyman finished the game with a hat trick in the first half as she had three goals on five shots. This was her sixth multi-goal game of the season and third with three, she now leads the team in goals with 17 and total points with 22. Seniors Lauren Schaaf and Kathleen Gerrits each finished with one goal and one assist on the afternoon and Natalie Barnett also finished with two goals. Schaaf also added a career high three caused turnovers.

Campbell had a 43-20 advantage in shots. During the first half with the score 10-6 the shots were 21-15. In the second half Campbell had a 22-5 advantage in shots taken.

Game Story

Campbell got on the board first just 46 seconds into the game but the Blue Hose would tie it up at 1-1 just two minutes later on Hyman’s first goal of the afternoon. Campbell responded with a 7-1 run over the next 16 minutes to take an 8-2 lead with just under 12 minutes remaining in the half. At the 10:26 mark of the first half Gerrits scored which started a 4-2 Blue Hose run over the final 10:26 of the half. Presbyterian trailed by just three at the 4:22 mark when Barnett scored her first goal of the afternoon on a free position shot, which made it 9-6. Campbell scored with 41 seconds left in the half making the 10-6 score at the intermission.

Campbell score the first eight goals of the second half making it a 9-0 run for the Camels over a 20-minute stretch. Barnett scored her second goal of the afternoon with 9:31 remaining making it 18-7. Campbell then scored the final three goals making it a final of 21-7.

For the Record

Presbyterian moves to 2-11 and 0-3 in the Big South while Campbell moves to 6-7 and 2-1 in conference play.

Notes

PC gathered a season high 26 ground balls.

The three goals by Hyman tied her season and career highs, this was her third time scoring three and sixth with two or more.

Claire Frase gathered a season high four draw controls.

Megan Dreyer had a team high six draw controls which is her second most this season.

Schaaf had a career high three caused turnovers.

Cuzzupe finished with a season high nine saves which was one off her career best of 10 versus Cincinnati in 2016.
