Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College lacrosse team is set to host the Manhattan Jaspers on Monday, February 19 at 1:00 p.m. in Bailey Stadium. This is the 2018 home opener for the Blue Hose.

The Week Ahead

The Blue Hose host the Manhattan Jaspers on Monday, February 19 in their home opener. Manhattan will be playing its second road game in three days.

Manhattan enters this contest with an 0-1 record as it fell to Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday by a 12-8 score.

PC fell to the Furman Paladins by a 16-4 score on Valentine’s Day in the regular season opener. Three different Blue Hose players combined to score the four goals while a fourth added an assist. Two of

PC’s four goals were free-position goals.

Freshman Sarah Marshall led the way scoring two of the four goals, fellow freshman Ana Boothe also added a goal from off the bench. Kathleen Gerrits scored the other goal and Natalie Barnett recorded an assist in the season opener.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Koch tallied 12 saves in the contest as she played all 60 minutes in goal.

Freshmen Playing Early

Four freshmen saw playing time on Wednesday night vs Furman, including two who started. Marshall and Kelly Hyman each started while Boothe and Kara DiClemente were two of the three that came off the bench.

Marshall and Boothe combined to score three of the Blue Hose’s four goals in the season opener. Marshall scored her two goals on just three total shots, good for a .667 percentage while Boothe’s goal came via a free position shot.

Kayla Koch Starts

Sophomore goal keeper Kayla Koch started the opening game in goal and recorded 12 saves for a .429 save percentage. She also started all 16 games of her freshman season recording 136 saves for a .378 save percentage. Her 148 career saves are already the sixth best in school history.

PC Welcomes Six Newcomers

The Blue Hose have six freshmen on the team this year, four of which have already made their debut playing in the season opener at Furman.

Blue Hose Travel West

PC will be traveling west over Spring Break this year. On March 3 the Blue Hose will play at Arizona State followed by a matchup with San Diego State on March 5.

This will be the Blue Hose’s first meeting in program history vs both the Sun Devils and Aztecs.

Accurate Shooting

The Blue Hose were on target 10 times in 18 total attempts in the first game, good for a .555 shots on goal percentage.

Scouting the Jaspers

The Manhattan Jaspers fell to Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday by a 12-8 score. Four different players tallied a goal for the Jaspers who shot 32.0 percent as a team in the game. Nikki Prestiano played all 60 minutes in the goal

Kara Hodapp and Sarah Lang each scored three goals apiece to lead the Jaspers while Molly Fitzpatrick and Joryn Dicostanzo scored the other two goals.

Prestiano tallied a game high ground balls for Manhattan while also recording eight saves for a .400 save percentage in the contest.

Hodapp and Fitzpatrick led the way with two caused turnovers each for Manhattan.

Manhattan is led by second year head coach Katie McConnell, she is 5-12 overall.

This is the first meeting between the two schools.
