Storey Named Preseason All-Conference
Senior PG Cortney Storey has been named to 2017-18 Big South Preseason All-Conference team. She was the 2014-15 Freshman of the Year, 2015-16 Big South Honorable Mention and 2016-17 Big South Second Team honoree.
Storey is the first preseason honoree since Karlee Taylor in 2013-14.
1,000 Point Scorers
In the Blue Hose’s most recent game versus North Carolina Central Storey scored 26 points and surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career. Janie Miles now sits at 869 points in her pursuit for 1,000.
Storey is averaging 16.4 points, 5.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game this season. She has surpassed 1,000 points and now has 393 assists and 173 steals in her pursuit of 1,000/400/200.

Blue Hose Go for 10+ Again
PC enters this season with three straight 10+ win Big South campaigns. The Blue Hose have achieved that feat four of the last five seasons overall.
Overall they have won 10+ conference games in 13 of the last 30 seasons with nine coming as members of the South Atlantic Conference and four in the Big South.
Storey off to Hot Start
Storey was named the Big South Player of the Week each of the first two weeks this season.
In week one she averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals in two games versus San Diego State and #7 UCLA, this performance earned her first player of the week honor.
In week two Storey average 20.5 points, 6.5 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in two games versus USC Upstate and Chattanooga. She would tie her own personal career high and PC Division I record with 27 points versus Upstate. These performances garnered her second player of the week honor.
Storey has recorded back to back 20-point efforts against North Carolina and North Carolina Central. These are her third and fourth 20-point games of the season. Against NC Central she scored 26, her second game of the season of 25+ and fourth time of her career. She scored the 26 on a career high and PC record 17 made free throws.
Blue Hose Offensive Notes
PC is averaging 54.8 points with a 34.9 percent shooting average this season with a 29.0 percent three-point average.
The Blue Hose grab 26.9 rebounds, 11.7 assists, 8.3 steals and 1.9 blocks per game this season.
When PC scored 83 points at USC Upstate it was the most points scored in a game since the Truett-McConnel game on December 16, 2012.
In the PC-NC Central game the Blue Hose went 30-34 in free throws, that was a PC record in made free throws. The previous high had been 26 versus High Point on February 23, 2013.
Miles Heating Up
Miles averages 9.1 points per game, a team high 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game this season. She has five double digit scoring efforts this season.
33 points in two games versus USC Upstate and Chattanooga are her second highest scoring two game stretch in her career. She had 35 over two games in December of her freshman season versus North Carolina Central and Campbell.
Freshman Mattie Kennedy tallied a career high 13 points on a career high three made three-pointers versus Kennesaw State on Tuesday night.
Sophomore Riley Hemm also tied her career high in made three-pointers with two in one minute played versus the Owls.
Redshirt Sophomore Ericka Blackwell-Boyden grabbed a career high six rebounds in the Kennesaw State (11/21) contest. She then added a career high three steals versus North Carolina (12/5).
Freshman Briley Buckner would add a career day against Duke as she set game highs in points (11), made shots (4), attempts (8), three-point makes (2), three point attempts (4), rebounds (5) and assists (2).
Storey knocked down a PC Division I era record 17 free throws in the game versus NC Central, the previous record had been 11 by Dria David who did it twice.
Scouting the Spartans
The Spartans are 4-8 and currently riding a seven game losing streak with the most recent defeat coming at the hand of Tusculum on Tuesday, December 19.
UNCG averages 64.4 points per game on a 41.4 percent shooting average while allowing 61.1 points on 41.7 percent shooting by the opposition.
The Spartans grab 35.8 rebounds, 10.8 assists and 7.4 steals per game this season.
Nadine Soliman and Alexus Willey lead the Spartans with 14.2 and 11.5 points per game this season, Soliman also leads the way with 1.5 steals per game.
Lje Ajemba at 10.9 and Te’ja Twitty with 4.8 are the team leaders in rebounding while Brandi Fier leads in assists with 3.7 assists per game.
UNCG is led by second year head coach Trina Patterson who led the Spartans to a 20-15 record in her first season.
