How it Happened
Duke came out of the gate with four quick points but Santos scored her first career points to get the Blue Hose on the board. PC kept up with Duke early as a Buckner three-pointer pulled the Blue Hose back to within three. The Blue Hose handled the full court press Duke threw at them early and Miles hit a three with 2:29 to play in the quarter giving PC an 11-10 lead. Duke came right back down the floor with a lay-up and then three by Rebecca Greenwell but an Ericka Blackwell-Boyden jumper with five seconds to play in the quarter made it 15-13 after one.
Duke would start the second period on an 8-0 run before Hall scored the first PC points of the period. With Duke up 14 at 34-20 Hall would hit back to back three pointers forcing a Blue Devils timeout. Storey would hit a pair of free throws with one second left in the half and PC would go to the break trailing by only eight.
The Blue Devils used a 9-2 run in the middle of the third period to pull away from the Blue Hose as they would go on to defeat PC 79-45. The biggest difference for PC was the ability to hit the three in the first half, they made five treys in the opening two periods and only one in the second half.
