Charlotte, N.C. - The Big South Conference has named
Presbyterian College freshman center Mariah Pietrowski the Crons Brand Freshman
of the Week. The Elizabethton, Tenn. native
tallied 14 points in the Blue Hose's season opener against Colgate to take the
award.
The honor is the first freshman of the week honor bestowed
on a Blue Hose women's basketball player in program history.
Pietrowski got her collegiate career off to a good start as
she averaged 11 points, shot 60 percent from floor and averaged 3.5 rebounds in
Presbyterian's first two games of the season. Against Colgate on Nov. 14,
Pietrowski connected on 5-of-7 from the floor for a 71-percent clip and canned
4-of-6 from the line to finish with 14 points against the Raiders. She
also ripped down four boards and came away with one steal and one assist.
Two days later at Syracuse, she recorded eight points on
4-of-8 from the floor and corralled three boards and one steal against the
Orange.
PC returns to action on Friday night at the Morehead State
Invitational against hosts Morehead State.
The Blue Hose face the Eagles starting at 7:00 p.m.
