CLINTON, S.C. --- Jacksonville used the power of an 11-2 run over the final 2:31 to pick up a 94-88 win over Presbyterian on Tuesday night inside the Templeton Center. Davon Bell led the way with 20 points, going 8-of-12 from the floor and also had a team-high nine assists.
Scoring the Game
Jacksonville took an early 9-6 lead in the opening four minutes before PC responded with a 8-2 to take a 14-11 lead with 14:09 to go in the first half. The Blue Hose and Dolphins continued to stay tight over the next several minutes as the two teams tied four times with the last coming after a Davon Bell layup made it 27-27 with 7:52 remaining in the opening half. The Blue Hose continued to put the pressure on the Dolphins as they kept taking slim leads only to have JU respond as the Dolphins cut it to 38-36. Before a quick 5-2 burst from PC pushed it back out to 43-38, the largest lead of the half with 3:35 to go in the first half. Jacksonville cut the lead back down to one before a Francois Lewis three to go along with a layup helped give the Blue Hose a 49-44 lead at the half.
The Blue Hose came out quickly in the second half as they extended the lead to nine, 63-54 with 15:55 to go in the half following a Bell layup. Jacksonville then went on the offensive with a 12-4 run over the next two minutes to make it 67-66. Both teams stayed within a possession of each other over the next few minutes as Jacksonville cut it to one, 76-75 with 8:35 to go in the half. PC went on the offensive once again as they went on a 6-0 run but Jacksonville answered and cut it back to two, 82-80. Following a PC layup, the Dolphins scored five unanswered to take an 85-84 lead with 2:43 to go. After a pair of Bell free throws gave the Blue Hose a one-point lead with 2:31 to go, the Dolphins closed the game on an 11-2 run to pick up the 94-88 victory.

Davon Bell led the Blue Hose with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while adding nine assists and a pair of rebounds. Francois Lewis added 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting with Corey Hightower chipping in with 17 points. Hightower paced the team with seven rebounds and Bell added a team-high nine assists. Jace Hogan paced the Dolphins with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Stats of the Game
PC shot 55% for the game, while Jacksonville hit 52% for the contest. The Blue Hose connected on five threes as the Dolphins made seven from beyond the arc. JU had the rebounding edge with a 37-27 lead. PC had a 54-38 advantage on points in the paint.

The Blue Hose are now off for the next eight days for final exams before returning to the court on Dec. 12 for a 7:30 tilt with VMI inside the Templeton Center. It will follow a 5 p.m. women’s game against Georgia Southern.
