FARMVILLE, Va. – The Presbyterian College baseball team got a run in each of its final two at-bats to pull off the 2-1 comeback victory on Friday night at Longwood to even the series at 1-1 in Farmville, Va. The Blue Hose improve to 19-18 overall and 7-4 in the Big South, while the Lancers drop to 12-21 overall and and 4-7 in the Big South.

How It Happened

Runs were at a premium again on Friday night with the two teams scratching across just three runs for the second straight game. Longwood broke the scoreless tie early, plating a run in the third. Michael Osinski doubled to lead off the inning and J. Mendez reached on an error to put runners on the corners with no outs. A passed ball then allowed Osinski to score to give the Lancers a 1-0 lead.

Presbyterian finally broke through in the eighth to even the game at 1-1. With one out, Tyler Weyenberg struck out but reached on a wild pitch to put a runner aboard. Two batters later, AJ Priaulx singled to right to put runners at the corners with two outs. TJ Richardson delivered a PC run for the second straight night with an RBI single to score Weyenberg and tie the game.

PC then snatched the lead with a run in the ninth. Nick Guimbarda tripled to lead off the inning, putting the go-ahead run just ninety feet away. Three batters later, with two outs, Glen Casaceli recorded his third hit of the game with a RBI single to center to give PC a 2-1 lead.

Ryan Hedrick came on to close out the game in the ninth. Sammy Miller led off the inning with a single to put the tying run aboard with no outs. Hedrick was able to get a popout and a strikeout for the next two outs, before Miller was caught stealing to end the game and give PC the 2-1 victory.

Pitchers of Record

Miles (4-0) earned his team-high four win of the year, working 2.2 scoreless innings and allowing just one hit with three strikeouts against one walk.

Michael Catlin (1-3) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on four hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

Hedrick earned his sixth save of the season, working a scoreless ninth and allowing just one hit with a strikeout and no walks.

Player of the Game

Glen Casaceli went 3-for-5 on the night and drove in the go-ahead run in the ninth with a RBI single. The righty leads the team with a .353 batting average in conference play. The three-hit game was his first of the season.

Notables

- Tanner Chock worked 5.1 innings for PC on the bump, allowing just one run on six hits with four strikeouts against five walks.

- TJ Richardson went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the win. The catcher has driven in two of the team’s three runs in the series.

- Nick Guimbarda was 1-for-4 with a triple and scored the go-ahead run in the ninth inning.

- AJ Priaulx was 1-for-3 with a walk in the contest. The lefty has now hit safely in seven straight games.
