Notes

Last Time Out...

PC concluded play at the Davidson Invitational with a four-set victory over N.C. Central on Saturday. Sophomore Erin Cooke recorded her first triple-double of the season and fifth of her career, posting a career-high tying 17 kills, 24 assists, and 11 digs while hitting .433. Sophomore Lauren Talbert hit .368 on her way to a career-high 19 kills, and fellow sophomore Trinity Williams notched a season-high 11 kills on a .333 hitting percentage. Overall, PC registered a .278 hitting percentage and served 10 aces, both season highs. Junior Sierra Jones handed out a season-high 30 assists in the contest, marking the second time this year that both Cooke and Jones have dished out 20 or more assists in the same contest.

The Opponents...

Central Arkansas opened its 2019 campaign 4-0, but arrives at the Cougar Classic having dropped five of its last six contests. The two schools have not met since the Sugar Bears beat the Blue Hose in Spartanburg, S.C., back in 2008.

Purdue Fort Wayne comes into the weekend 3-8 after dropping its most recent contest to Eastern Michigan on Tuesday. The Blue Hose and Mastodons have never met in volleyball.

SIUE had a five-match winning streak snapped last weekend at the Tulsa Invitational, and enters the tournament having lost three straight. Saturday marks the first meeting between the Blue Hose and Cougars in volleyball.

Cooke Shines in Return Home...

In her return to her hometown of Davidson, N.C., sophomore Erin Cooke was selected to the Davidson Invitational All-Tournament Team. Cooke averaged 11.3 kills, 16.0 assists, and 6.0 digs per contest while hitting .324 for the weekend. The sophomore posted her third double-double of the campaign (12 kills, 10 assists) in a loss to UNCW, before collecting her fifth career triple-double (17 kills, 24 assists, 11 digs) in the victory over NCCU. The 17 kills against the Lady Eagles tied Cooke’s career high, the third time in her career she has racked up 17 kills in a contest.
