Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team will conclude the 2018 regular season with a pair of Big South matchups on the road. The Blue Hose will take on Campbell on Friday night at 5:00 p.m. and will face off with Hampton on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Both matches will be streamed as part of the Big South Network on ESPN+.
The Blue Hose are coming off a two-win weekend when they defeated Gardner-Webb in four sets on Friday and outlasted Winthrop in a five-set battle on Saturday. Freshman Erin Cooke recorded her 4th triple-double of the season against the Eagles (15 kills, 24 assists, 11 digs), which is tied for 2nd most in the nation. Sophomore Taylor Farmer recorded 33 digs in that match, which is tied for the 7th most digs in a single match in PC’s Division I era. That performance earned her Big South Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Cooke continues to lead the Blue Hose offensively with 259 kills. She also has collected 319 assists and 135 digs. Junior Erin Eulitz eclipsed the 200-kill mark against Winthrop and now has 202 for the year to go along with her 252 digs, which also ranks second on the team. Sophomore Sydney De Jong has recorded a team-high 102 total blocks and has added 189 kills with a .308 hitting percentage. Freshman Lauren Talbert sits third on the team leaderboard in both kills (192) and digs (219). Sophomore Allie Wright has collected a team-high 42 aces along with 180 kills and 82 total blocks.
Campbell is tied with PC and Charleston Southern for 6th place in the Big South with a 6-8 conference record. The Camels are coming off a weekend that saw them drop a pair of conference matches. They were defeated in five sets by USC Upstate on Friday night and were swept by UNC Asheville on Saturday afternoon.
Hampton is 8-17 overall this season, 2-12 in Big South play. The Lady Pirates also lost their pair of games last weekend, as they fell to UNC Asheville in four sets on Friday and were swept by USC Upstate on Saturday. Their pair of Big South victories came against Gardner-Webb on October 20 and UNC Asheville on September 27, both at home.
