Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. to take part in the Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic this weekend, hosted by Air Force.  The Blue Hose will play three matches over the weekend, facing California Baptist and CSU Bakersfield on Friday and host Air Force on Saturday.

PC split their pair of matches last Friday at the Kennesaw State tournament, sweeping Jacksonville and falling to Kennesaw State in four sets. In the second match, sophomore Sydney De Jong recorded eight block assists, tying the Division I program record. That mark is also tied for fifth most total blocks in a match in PC’s D-I history.

Offensively, freshman Erin Cooke continued to lead the way for PC. She tallied a team-high 20 kills over the pair of matches while picked up 16 assists. Sophomore Sierra Jones led the Blue Hose with 31 assists in the two contests. Junior Erin Eulitz added 13 kills, including a team-high nine in the victory over Jacksonville.

California Baptist is 6-1 to begin their first season as a Division I program. Their first loss came last weekend against Saint Mary’s as part of the Fresno State Invitational. The Lancers went 2-1 on the weekend, defeating American in five sets and San Francisco in four.

CSU Bakersfield has started their season 2-4. They took part in the UC Irvine Tournament last weekend, defeating host UC Irvine in five sets and falling to Texas Tech and Georgia.

Air Force has begun their season 5-2. The Falcons took part in the Maverick Classic last weekend, defeating Loyola Maryland and Binghamton and falling to UT Arlington. They also faced McNeese State on Monday and won in three sets.
