Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team will travel to Kennesaw, Ga. to play a pair of matches on Friday, August 31 as part of the Kennesaw State tournament. The Blue Hose take on Jacksonville at 10:00 am and then will face host Kennesaw State at 7:00 pm.
Underclassmen led the way for PC last weekend at the Charlotte Invitational. Freshman Erin Cooke paced the Blue Hose with 23 kills over the three matches and filled the rest of the stat sheet with 39 assists and 20 digs. Sophomore Sierra Jones tallied a team-high 44 assists. Sophomore Allie Wright and freshman Trinity Williams each picked up 17 kills on the weekend.
Defensively, redshirt junior Daley Gosnell recorded 56 digs, the most in the Big South. Her average 5.6 digs per set ranked third in the conference last week. Sophomore Sydney De Jong recorded team-high nine blocks over the three matches.
Jacksonville has started their season 0-3, falling to Stony Brook and USF in five sets and San Jose State in three sets. Last season, Jacksonville finished 18-10 and ended their season with a loss to Florida Gulf Coast in the ASUN semifinals.
Kennesaw State has started their season 3-0, defeating Loyola Chicago and McNeese State in three sets and Samford in five sets. Kennesaw State won the ASUN Championship last season with a 21-5 overall record. Their season ended with a loss to Oregon in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
