Clinton, S.C. – Behind 15 kills and eight blocks from Allie Wright the Blue Hose stormed back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Gardner-Webb 3-2 on Saturday night at Templeton Center. It was the Blue Hose third straight win and second straight Big South win all here at home.

Scoring the Match:

PC 23 – GWU 25

The Blue Hose would jump out to a 10-3 lead following kills from Caroline Henderson, Jaclyn Brewington and Erin Eulitz but the Runnin’ Bulldogs would get back on track with a 3-0 run to cut it to 10-6. GWU would slowly cut into the lead, making it 14-12 PC following a kill by Maria Emmick. The Runnin’ Bulldogs went up 22-17 but the Blue Hose would go on a 6-1 run sparked by Ashton Stewart to cut it to 24-23 before Gardner-Webb scored the final point.

PC 13 – GWU 25

Gardner-Webb jumped out to an 11-3 lead and the Blue Hose were climbing uphill from there. PC would cut the score to 14-8 following a Runnin’ Bulldog error, they would close to within six again at 19-13 after a kill by Brewington but that was as close as they would get. GWU would finish the set on a 6-0 run.

PC 25 – GWU 15

PC jumped out to a 7-2 lead behind a pair of kills from Henderson and the Blue Hose never led by fewer than four the rest of the way. Wright would put the Blue Hose up 20-12 with a kill and then a GWU error would make it 21-12. The Blue Hose would finish off the Runnin’ Bulldogs with a kill by Eulitz.

PC 25 – GWU 18

With the match tied at 6-6 Gardner-Webb would use an 8-3 run to take a 14-9 lead, the five-point lead was their largest of the set. The Blue Hose would use a couple of Runnin’ Bulldog errors to gain some momentum before Henderson, Eulitz and Wright would take over down the stretch as PC finished the set on an 11-0 run to win 25-18.

PC 15 – GWU 1

Presbyterian used the 11-0 run to end the fourth set and started the fifth set on a decisive 8-0 run. Megan Jones would have four service aces in the fifth set alone to help the Blue Hose start with the 8-0 lead. Following the lone point by Gardner-Webb in the fifth set PC would finish on another 7-0 run. Wright and Eulitz would combine for five kills out of those seven points.

Player of the Match:

Wright, Henderson and Eulitz all finished with 12-plus kills in the five set match, Henderson added 10 digs for her double/double while Wright had a career high eight blocks. Brewington finished with a team high 27 assists while Daley Gosnell had 25 digs.

Stat of the Match:

PC finished with 11 blocks on the night and had a .259 hitting percentage compared to Gardner-Webb’s .117 hitting percentage.


- Wright’s eight blocks is tied-third most in a five set match in PC Division I history, it is also tied-fifth overall.

- Wright’s three solo blocks are tied-seventh overall in PC Division I history.

- Her eight blocks are also a personal career high.

- The 11 total blocks are tied-ninth as a team in PC’s Division I era.

- Megan Jones’ four service aces are tied-fourth in the Division I era.

PC won their third straight and improves to 8-21, 4-10 in the Big South while Gardner-Webb drops to 7-20, 1-13 in Big South play.
