Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team fell in their final match at the Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Hose were narrowly edged out by host Air Force 25-18, 20-25, 25-14, 13-25, and 11-15.
Junior Erin Eulitz and freshman Erin Cooke paced PC with 11 kills each in the match. Senior Jaclyn Brewington and sophomore Sierra Jones tallied 19 assists apiece. Redshirt junior Daley Gosnell led the Blue Hose in digs, 21, aces, four, and added six assists. Sophomore Sydney De Jong chipped in with nine kills and a team-high four total blocks.
The Blue Hose started quickly on Saturday, racing out to an eight-point lead in the first set. The Falcons would claw their way back to bring the lead to 20-17, scoring six of seven points after a timeout. PC would kill the rally by scoring five of the next six points to take the first set.
The third set was similar to the first for PC, jumping out to a large early lead. The Falcons were forced to take a timeout when the Blue Hose led 10-4. PC continued to charge forward in the set, building a nine-point lead twice. The third set ended with the Blue Hose taking five of the last seven points.
The Blue Hose will be back in action again on Tuesday, September 11 as they take on Wofford in their home opener at 7:00 p.m. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
