Nashville, Tenn. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team split a pair of matches this weekend in Nashville to kick off spring break. The Blue Hose defeated Arkansas State on Sunday, 4-3, after falling to Lipscomb on Saturday night, 4-1. PC is now 8-5 on the season.

 

The Blue Hose dropped the doubles point on Sunday against the Red Wolves. “We didn’t have great energy in doubles, maybe because of the late night on Saturday,” said head coach Steve Brooks. “But the girls snapped back in singles.”

 

Beth Taylor and Samantha Calais finished their singles matches first, putting the match score at 2-1. Both Taylor and Calais scored straight-set victories. Sydney Patton fought for a three set win on court number one. Katie Thompson was able to secure the match for the Blue Hose as she overcame an 0-2 start to the second set.

 

“It was a great win on the front end of spring break,” said Brooks. Full results of the match can be found below:

On Saturday against the Bisons, only Jessica Leeman picked up a win for the Blue Hose. Calais dropped a tough three-set match and Taylor’s match made it to the third set, but it was not finished.

 

“That was a great opportunity to learn some things and become a stronger team,” Brooks said of Saturday’s match. “Hopefully the lessons learned will pay off in conference play.”
