Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team was defeated by Winthrop on Wednesday afternoon, 7-0.

The duo of Sydney Patton and Jessica Leeman faced off against the #31 doubles tandem in the nation, Megan Kauffman and Lauren Proctor, dropping a 6-1 match. Patton then took on Proctor, the 51st ranked singles player in the country, in the number one singles contest. Patton fell to Proctor, 6-1, 6-1.

Beth Taylor played a marathon of a match court number four. After dropping the first set 6-2, Taylor rallied and earned a 6-4 set win. She would then go back and forth with her opponent in the third set, that was scored as a tiebreaker, before suffering a 12-10 loss to end the match.

“I think the team learned some things from the match,” said head coach Steve Brooks. “We need to work harder in practice and be more comfortable late in the points and late in the game. This is a building process and the Blue Hose can do it!”
