CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis recorded its first Big South victory of the season with a 5-2 win over Longwood on Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Tennis Courts. PC improves to 7-7 overall and 1-3 in the Big South with the win, while Longwood drops to 5-7 overall and 0-6 in the league.

PC swept the three doubles matches for the second straight matches. Caroline Ferrari and Tracy Johnson opened the match with a 6-2 victory at No. 2 and Demi Henschel and Samantha Calais clinched the point for PC with a 7-5 win at No. 1. Brittany Nuttall and Beth Taylor closed it out with a 6-4 win at No. 3.

The Blue Hose carried their strong play in to singles with wins in four of the six matches. Nuttall made it 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. Taylor followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 and Katie Thompson clinched the match for PC with a 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6.

Longwood picked up a win at No. 5 but Calais recorded a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 4 to make it 5-1. LWU finished the match with a three-set win at No. 2 to make it a 5-2 match.

PC returns to action on Sunday, hosting Liberty at noon at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
