ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team picked up a road win on Thursday with a 6-1 victory at South Carolina State in Orangeburg, S.C. The Blue Hose improve to 6-7, while the Bulldogs drop to 1-3.

PC opened the match with a sweep of doubles action. Demi Henschel and Samantha Calais recorded a 6-2 victory at No. 1 and Tracy Johnson and Ella Rowley followed with a 6-3 at No. 3. Beth Taylor and Brittany Nuttall made it clean sweep with a 7-6 (5) win at No. 2, as PC went up 1-0.

The Blue Hose then took five of six singles matches en route to the victory. Nuttall claimed a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1, followed by Johnson taking No. 2, 6-2, 6-0. Taylor got back in the win column with her 11th singles win of the season, 6-3, 6-0, at No 3. Calais picked up then 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 4, as the Blue Hose claimed straight set wins at each of the top four flights.

SC State managed its lone win at No. 5, coming in three sets. Ella Rowley finished it off with a 6-3, 7-6 (1) win at No. 6 to give PC the 6-1 win.

PC returns to action on Saturday, hosting Longwood at 10 a.m. in a Big South match at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
