ORLANDO, Fla. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team defeated Florida A&M, 6-1, on Sunday morning in Orlando, Fla. The Blue Hose improved to 8-3 with the victory and have now won six of their last seven matches.
The Blue Hose swept the doubles action to take the 1-0 match lead. Nicole Croxton and Tracy Johnson claimed a 6-2 victory at No. 1 and Beth Taylor and Celine Schepers followed with a 7-5 victory at No. 2. The Blue Hose made a clean sweep with a 6-2 win at No. 3 by Katie Thompson and Mary Kathryn Dickson.
In singles action, PC won five of the six matches en route to the 6-1 match victory. Johnson took a 6-1, 6-7, 1-0 (10-7) win on court one, while Taylor took a straight set 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 3. The back half of the lineup kept it going, each recording wins on the final three courts. Croxton won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4, Brittany Nuttall won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and Dickson finished it off with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6.
PC returns to action later this week in Orlando with a match against the University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras on Thursday at 9 a.m.
