CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team will host Charlotte and Savannah State in the home opener for the Blue Hose on Saturday at the Templeton Tennis Courts in Clinton, S.C. PC faces the 49ers at 10 a.m. and the Tigers at 3 p.m.
The Blue Hose are coming off a close 4-3 loss to Georgia Southern on Tuesday. Celine Schepers and Tracy Johnson each won in singles against the Eagles, improving to 3-0 on the year at their respective flights. Johnson and Nicole Croxton also remained unbeaten on the season in doubles, teaming up for a 6-3 victory on court one to go to 3-0 on the season.
Schepers was named Big South Player of the Week earlier this week for her performance in PC’s season-opening doubleheader on January 28. The sophomore earned a pair of wins at No. 1 singles against NC A&T and NC Central, while claiming a pair of doubles matches with Beth Taylor. Taylor received Big South Freshman of the Week honors for her performance in the two matches, recording two straight set wins at No. 3 and 4.
On the year, PC players have won 14-of-18 singles matches and 7-of-9 doubles matches, including winning all nine matches in a sweep of NC Central.
