CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team swept the Big South Weekly Honors on Wednesday, as Celine Schepers was named Big South Player of the Week and Beth Taylor took Freshman of the Week.
Schepers went 4-0 on the opening weekend of the 2017 season, going 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-0 in doubles. The sophomore earned a 7-6 (6), 6-1 win at NC A&T in the season opener, before earning a 6-7 (9), 6-3, 1-0 (10-5) win against NC Central later in the day. She teamed up with Taylor in both doubles matches, claiming 6-1 wins at No. 2 and 3, in the matches respectively.
Taylor started her PC career with a 4-0 weekend overall. The rookie earned a 6-0, 6-0 win on court four in her first collegiate match. She followed that up with a 6-2, 6-4 win against NC Central on court three to start the season 2-0 in singles. She paired with Schepers to earn two doubles wins, both coming by a score of 6-1.
The honors are the first of their respective careers and the first by PC players since last season.
