Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team will wrap up regular season play on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Boiling Springs to take on Gardner-Webb. The match against the Runnin’ Bulldogs is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.

The Blue Hose moved to 17-5 for the 2018-19 season, 7-1 in conference action after picking up a 4-3 win over Longwood on Saturday. The match began with PC grabbing the all-important doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Beth Taylor and Katie Thompson picked up the first win of the day on court three. Samantha Calais and Jessica Leeman clinched the point for the Blue Hose with a 7-5 win on court two. Sydney Patton and Tracy Johnson were ahead 6-5, but did not finish their match.

In singles play, the Lancers were able to take a 2-1 lead in the match with a pair of quick victories. Patton was able to even the match with a straight-set victory on court one. Taylor picked up the third point of the afternoon with a straight-set win of her own in the number four slot. Leeman dropped a tough match, where she brought both sets to a tiebreaker. All eyes shifted then shifted to Thompson, whose start was delayed because of court availability. The junior shined, not allowing her opponent to win a single game to lead the Blue Hose to victory.

The Runnin’ Bulldogs are 8-8 on the season, 4-3 against Big South opponents. Last time out, they were defeated by Radford, 4-3.
