CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College women’s tennis player Samantha Calais was named the Big South Freshman of the Week for her performance against Kennesaw State last week, the league announced on Wednesday. Calais takes the honor for the second time this season.

Calais recoded a singles win at No. 3 against the Owls, coming out on top in in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, as a part of PC’s 6-1 victory. It was her fourth win of the season in singles play, all coming at No. 3.

Calais also teamed up with Demi Henschel for a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles for their third win of the season. It helped PC take the doubles point for the fifth time this season.

Calais is just the second PC player to earn two Big South Freshman of the Week honors. She joins teammate Beth Taylor as the only other player to take the honor more than once.
