CLINTON, S.C. – Both the Presbyterian College men’s and women’s tennis teams will head to Alabama State for three matches over Friday and Saturday in Montgomery, Ala. The two will face the same schedule over the two days.
Both will face Alabama State at 11 a.m. ET on Friday and Alabama A&M at 5 p.m. ET that afternoon. The two will then face their respective counterparts from Jacksonville State on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET.
The women’s team is coming off a 4-3 victory over USC Upstate on Tuesday afternoon that pushed its record to 4-2 on the year. Celine Schepers improved to 5-0 in singles play with a win at No. 1 against the Spartans, winning 6-2, 6-4. Katie Thompson, who was named the Big South’s Freshman of the Week on Wednesday, continued her strong play to start her college career, improving to 4-0 on the singles side.
The men’s team had its only scheduled match last week rained out, so Friday’s action will be its first since January 29. The back end of the PC lineup has been reliable, as Ben Kelley and Joel Roberts have combined to go 7-2 in singles play. Kelley and Roberts are 3-2 at No. 1 doubles with Jaime Castillo-Lopez and Diego Manzanas also compiling a 3-2 mark so far.
