Ninety Six, S.C. – Presbyterian College ended the first day of the 2019 Big South Men’s Golf Championship in ninth place with a team score of 312, just two strokes from sixth. Sophomore Ben Pirro led the Blue Hose with a round of 75 (+3) and tied for 14th. Longwood is hosting at The Patriot GC (par-72, 7120 yards).

Cole Patterson (t26) shot 77, AJ Nolin (t31) shot 78, Weston Sanders (44) shot 82, and James Scott (49) rounded out the team at 95.

Campbell’s Pontus Nyholm had a bogey-free round that included four birdies and an eagle to take the early lead for medalist honors at 66 (-6). The Camels are also in first place on the team leaderboard after a first round aggregate of 278.

Due to the threat of thunderstorms on Friday, the championship has shifted to 36 holes on Thursday to complete the 54-hole stroke play event. Teams will be re-paired for the morning’s second round with fixed tee times beginning at 8:00 am but will remain in their playing groups and same starting hole for the afternoon’s final round.

PC will be paired with Charleston Southern and tee off hole No. 10.
