Greenville, SC – The Presbyterian College men’s golf team combined for a first round score of 296 to tie for 8th in a field of 21 teams at the 50th Annual Furman Intercollegiate on Friday afternoon. Ben Pirro tied for 20th with a round of 72 (+1) on the 6,984-yard Furman GC course.

Pirro recorded a team-high four birdies and was -1 headed into the day’s final hole, where a double-bogey moved him to plus one. Cole Patterson had three birdies on Friday and finished one stroke back at 73, tied for 26th. Charlie Tate tied for 41st on Friday with a round of 74. AJ Nolin finished tied for 77th with a score of 77. Nat Simkins rounded out the team with a round of 86 and in 118th place.

Virginia Tech (281) holds a slim lead over Coastal Carolina (282) and Davidson (283) for first place. Four players are tied for first place after opening rounds of 69 (-2).

The Blue Hose will tee off at 12:20 pm on Saturday beginning on hole number 10. Fans can follow along via Golfstat’s live scoring feature.
