CLINTON, SC – The Presbyterian College men's golf team announced the addition of three golfers to join the Blue Hose in the fall of 2018.
“We are excited to announce the signing of these three standout student-athletes to our team,” stated head coach Thomas Addison. “They will add to our team depth and help continue to raise our level of competition in practice as well as at tournaments.”
AJ Nolin is joining PC after two successful seasons at Iowa Western Community College. He played in all 11 tournaments his freshman year and finished the season with a 75.83 scoring average. He has an improved scoring average of 74.6 through 12 rounds this fall. Prior to his time at Iowa Western, Nolin was a four-year letter winner at Westside High School where he had a 3rd place showing at the Nebraska High School State Championship as a senior. Nolin will graduate from Iowa Western this spring with NJCAA Academic All-Region and All-American honors. He will major in business administration at PC.
Charlie Tate played four seasons at Grimsley High School in Greensboro, NC, where he earned all-conference honors three times and all-region honors his senior year. Tate excelled at the Midwest Regional tournament, finishing 3rd in 2014 (73) and 2nd in 2015 (72). He notched wins at the Dan Dobsin Junior Championship (-5) and Big I Regional Tournament at Starmount Forrest CC (-1). Tate finished runner-up at the Roy Jones Junior Championship with a score of 142 (72, 70). He made it to the round of 32 in the NC Junior Championship, and finished tied for 20th with a score of 217 (75, 72, 70) at the Carolinas Boys' Championship.
Nat Simkins played three seasons at Aquinas High School in Augusta, Ga. He earned the team’s MVP award from 2015-17 and led the team as their one seed throughout his senior season. He qualified for the GHSA Sectionals in 2015 after winning a playoff hole to break a 5th place tie. Simkins finished 5th at the 2016 GHSA Sectionals with a score of 75, finished 3rd at the 2015 SJGT Harbor Club Classic (148), 4th at the 2017 SJGT Brunswick Country Club (149), and was named the 2017 Augusta Junior Club Champion (141).
