Charlotte, N.C. - Campbell has earned the No. 1 seed in the Big South Men’s Golf Championship, which begins on Wednesday and will be hosted by Longwood at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, S.C.  The Camels receive the No. 1 seed based on its current GolfStat national ranking of 41, the highest among the 10 Big South men’s golf programs.  

First-year member USC Upstate is currently ranked No. 120 in the nation by GolfStat and receives the No. 2 seed, ahead of No. 3 seed Radford, which is ranked No. 135. Charleston Southern (146) is the No. 4 seed, while High Point (156) earns the No. 5 seed.  Gardner-Webb (165) will be the No. 6 seed with Winthrop (No. 7 - 191), Presbyterian College (No. 8 – 206), Longwood (No. 9 – 221) and first-year member Hampton (No. 10 – 289) rounding out the field.


Cole Patterson, Weston Sanders, Ben Pirro, AJ Nolin and James Scott are scheduled to compete for Presbyterian College. Pirro (74.28) and Patterson (74.52) finished the regular season just outside of the Big South’s Top-20 scoring averages. Patterson led the team three times on the year, while Pirro, Nolin and Sanders led the team once apiece. Sanders earned the team’s lone top-10 performance with a 5th place tie at the Elon Phoenix Invitational at 207 (-6). The Blue Hose will tee off beginning at 1:45 pm on Wednesday on hole No. 10.

The Patriot Golf Club (par 72, 7,120 yards) is hosting the Big South Men’s Golf Championship for the 14th time in 15 years, as the course has hosted the event every year since 2008 in addition to 2005 and 2006. 
The three-day, 54-hole event will be held April 17-19, while a new Match Play round featuring the top four teams after stroke play will be contested on Saturday, April 20, to determine the 2019 champion. The winning team will receive the Big South’s automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals. The Championship is free and open to the public, and fans can follow the action online via GolfStat’s “Live Scoring” feature.

Meanwhile, the Big South Conference will present its 2019 All-Conference Team, All-Freshman Team, All-Academic Team, All-Championship Team and the annual award winners on Friday, April 19 following the 54-hole stroke event at the post-Championship awards ceremony.   The team and runner-up trophies will be presented at the conclusion of Saturday’s Match Play competition.
