Sapphire, NC – The Presbyterian College men’s golf team tied for 12th at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate at the CC of Sapphire Valley (par-71, 6,767 yards) on Tuesday. Freshmen Ben Pirro and Josh Taylor tied for 37th with scores of 223 to lead the team.

Pirro led the team for the second consecutive tournament. He recorded a team high 10 birdies during the tournament. Taylor recorded the team's only eagle during the first round on hole No. 14 (par-5, 482 yards).

Carson Spears and Cole Patterson finished a few strokes back at 227 and tied for 60th. Spears climbed the leaderboards during the final round and was +1 with three holes left. Spears recorded a team high four birdies during the final round on Tuesday.

Haydon Norwood shot 228 (75, 79, 74) to tie for 63rd in his collegiate debut.

Clemson’s Colby Patton won individual medalist honors. Gardner-Webb won the team title with a combined score of 856 (275, 284, 297). Full results and course stats can be viewed here.

The men’s golf team will next compete at the Elon Phoenix Invitational at the Alamance CC from October 15-17.
