Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College softball team will host its final series of the season this weekend against Longwood. The three-game set with the Lancers will begin with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. First pitch of the first game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The series will conclude with a single game that is slated to start at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The Blue Hose will recognize and celebrate the careers of their five seniors, Megan Anderson, Ansley Wilbanks, Casey Gerhard, Chelsea Lyons, and Jonnie Petree, prior to Sunday’s game. Senior Day festivities are scheduled to begin at approximately 12:40 p.m.

 

The Blue Hose are now 11-37-2 on the season, 1-19 against Big South opponents after dropping both ends of a doubleheader to Campbell on Saturday. Petree has led the PC offense this season and holds a team-high .362 batting average and .417 on-base percentage. She has also stolen 31 bases on the campaign and is currently only two short of tying the PC Division I single-season record of 33. Wilbanks leads the team with 56 hits for the year and is only three base knocks away from tying the D-I single-season mark of 59.

 

Lyons joins Petree at the top of the on-base percentage leaderboard at .408 and is batting an even .300. Courtney White leads the Blue Hose with 16 extra base hits (12 2B, 3 HR, 3B) and a .474 slugging percentage to go along with her .304 batting average. Kiley Kross leads the team with 25 runs batted in and is hitting .279 in her freshman campaign. Gerhard tops the squad with five home runs on the season.

 

Taylor Ward has made the most appearances, 33, in the circle this season for PC. The freshman has worked 11 complete games and earned four wins. She has pitched 105.2 innings and holds a 5.63 ERA. Alyssa Batastini has pitched a team-high 141 innings this year in 29 appearances. She has picked up six wins and holds a team-best 4.32 ERA. Sarah Ramsbottom has also earned a win this season. She has worked 27.2 innings in 12 appearances (3 starts) in the circle.

 

Longwood is 31-16 overall this season, 17-4 against Big South foes after taking two of three from Hampton in a mid-week series. The Lancers have a team batting average of .278, highlighted by Jordan Clark and Karleigh Donovan, who are batting .325 and .320, respectively. Sydney Gay and Sydney Backstrom lead the Longwood pitching staff. Both have double-digit wins on the year and hold an ERA lower than 3.50. The team’s ERA currently sits at 3.14.
