Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College softball team was defeated by Campbell in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. PC fell in game one, 7-0, and then dropped the second contest, 13-6. The pair of losses brings the Blue Hose to 11-37-2 on the year, 1-19 against Big South opponents.
Casey Gerhard led the Blue Hose offensive charge in the second game of the day. The senior was 3-3, highlighted by a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning. She led the team with her three hits, but four teammates also had a multi-hit game. Jonnie Petree, Ansley Wilbanks, Kiley Kross, and Courtney White all had a pair of hits in the second half of the twinbill. Wilbanks, Kross, and White also each drove in a run. Petree collected her 31st stolen base of the season in the defeat and is now two away from tying the PC Division I single-season record.
The Blue Hose offense put one on the board in the first frame with an RBI double down the left field line from White. That double was her team-leading 12th of the season. PC would not score again until the three-run shot by Gerhard in the fifth. The blast was preceded by back-to-back singles by Wilbanks and Kross to start the frame. The homer was her fifth of the season and she has now reached the 20-RBI mark on the season. The team’s fifth and sixth runs scored in the bottom of the sixth inning. Petree started a two-out rally with an infield single and then swiped second. Wilbanks drove her in with a single of the glove of the diving second basemen. Wilbanks would score on a Kross double down the left field line.

She was relieved by White, who gave up eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits and a pair of walks in 5.1 innings pitched. Taylor Ward collected the final out for PC on two pitches.
