Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College softball team will host Appalachian State for a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. The game will be streamed live as a presentation of the Big South Network on ESPN+.
The Blue Hose are now 11-34-2 on the season after grabbing a game against Gardner-Webb this weekend. Sarah Ramsbottom earned her first collegiate victory on Saturday against the Runnin’ Bulldogs. Macy Hyatt went 2-3 with a home run, a double, four RBI, three runs, and a pair of walks in the win. Casey Gerhard launched what turned out to be the game-winning home run in the top of the seventh inning. Chelsea Lyons led the team with three hits in the game. Courtney White earned her second save of the season in the win.
Jonnie Petree leads all Blue Hose batters with a .357 batting average for the season. The senior also leads the Big South with 30 stolen bases on the campaign, which is just three shy of PC’s Division I single-season record. Ansley Wilbanks has tallied a team-high 53 hits on the year, third-most in the conference. Lyons paces the Blue Hose with a .422 on-base percentage. White has collected the most extra base hits on the season, 15 (11 2B, 3 HR, 3B), and holds the team’s highest slugging percentage, .468. Kiley Kross tops the team leaderboard with 24 runs batted in.
Alyssa Batastini has seen the most time in the circle for the Blue Hose this year, having thrown 141 innings. She has six wins on the year and a 4.32 ERA. Taylor Ward has picked up four victories in her 95.2 innings of work. She has a 5.49 ERA for the season.
App State is 27-14 on the year after being swept by #11 Louisiana last weekend. Prior to that weekend series, the Mountaineers split a mid-week doubleheader against UNCG. The team is hitting .249 for the season, highlighted by Keri White and her .336 average. Jenny Dodd and Alison Durrence are tied for the team lead with 26 RBI. App State’s team ERA currently sits at 2.78. Kenzie Longanecker, sister of PC softball alum Madison Longanecker, holds a 14-4 record with a 2.08 ERA in 124.2 innings pitched. Sydney Holland has thrown 90.2 innings and is 10-6 with a 2.47 ERA.
