The Presbyterian College softball team scored four runs in the first inning and survived a Radford rally to take the 4-3 win over the Highlanders in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Clinton, S.C. Runs were hard to come by in game two with Radford taking the 1-0 win.

Scoring the Games
Game One
Marissa Gagliano started off the game with a double to left. After reaching third on a sacrifice bunt by Hannah Melam, she scored the game’s first run when Hunter Munday laced a RBI single to short. The Blue Hose responded with a lead-off single from Jonnie Petree. She stole second and made it to third off a Hope Rogers single. After Megan Anderson drew a walk to load the bases, Kelsie Sanchez drew one as well, pushing Petree past the plate. Rebekka Gross produced the second run with a sacrifice fly to center, with Presley Bissett making it 4-1 with a 2-RBI single up the middle.

A quiet second, third and fourth inning, Brittany Wratchford led off the fifth with a single. She advanced to second off a Sofia Tapia bunt. Medlam cleared the bases with a two-RBI double to left the next at-bat, cutting the margin to one, 4-3. Radford threatened in the sixth with a runner on third but couldn’t tie the game. Alex Cook retired the side in the seventh to give PC the win.

Game Two

PC rallied with a runner at second but the last batter grounded out to end the game with the Highlanders on top 1-0.
