Jacksonville (1-1-1) won their season opener against Marist before picking up a 3-3 tie against Florida International and taking a 2-1 loss to Florida Atlantic last week. Jesus Colombo leads the team offensively with four points (2G).
ETSU (1-3) dropped a 2-1 game to Marshall on Tuesday. Their only win of the year was a 3-2 double OT win against Old Dominion. Hauk Andreas Fossen leads the team offensively with two goals.
This will be the third meeting between Jacksonville and PC with the series currently tied 1-1. In the last meeting, the Dolphins picked up a 3-0 neutral site win in Columbia, SC (9/12/08).
This will be the third meeting with East Tennessee State with PC trailing 2-0. In the last meeting, the Bucs picked up a 1-0 win over PC at Martin Stadium in 2012.
Redshirt senior Sergio Pinto is one assist and two game winning goals from becoming the program’s Division I leader in those categories. He’s also three shots on goal from becoming No. 3 in that category.
Junior Luca Ziegler is 168 minutes from moving into the program’s top-10 career minutes played.
Top of the Class...
Senior Ricardo Hernandez leads the program in career minutes played (5800) and started his DI program-best 64th match on Monday against UNCW. Redshirt senior Sergio Pinto recently moved into 2nd place in minutes (5113) and is tied for 2nd in career starts at 62.
Keeping the Bags Packed...
The Blue Hose will travel to Florida once and Tennessee twice over the next three games and not play at home again until Tuesday, September 24 against Middle Georgia State.
A Baker’s Dozen...
The Blue Hose have 13 new players joining the team for 2019 including five true freshmen and eight transfers. In the team’s final preseason scrimmage at Clemson (8/24), seven newcomers started and two more subbed in off the bench.
The Blue Hose were selected fourth in the Big South preseason poll for the second consecutive year. After winning the 2017 Big South Tournament, last year’s team dropped a 1-0 overtime game to Campbell in the Big South Finals.
