PC picked up its fourth consecutive win over Campbell with a 3-1 victory on Friday in Farmville, Va. Freshman Marcos Kitromilides came off the bench to score a pair of second half goals.

 

Scoring Breakdown

 

Clement Vannier, Sergio Pinto and Marcos Kitromilides lead the team with four points on the year. Vannier and Kitromilidies share the team lead in goals (2) while Pinto leads the team in assists (2). Four other players have recorded an assist.

 

Trial by Fire

 

The Blue Hose have squared off against three top-10 teams in 2018. PC scrimmaged No. 9 North Carolina (2-1, L) during the preseason and played back-to-back games at No. 1 Wake Forest (4-1, L) and No. 6 NC State (2-0, L).

 

Returning Champions

 

The Blue Hose returned nine starters from last year’s Big South Championship team. Those starters include: Clement VannierJakob LuedtkeLuca ZieglerYacine TchemmounAndrew Miller-BellVictor MenudierSergio PintoRicardo Hernandez and Adrian Edo Martin. Vannier (five), Pinto (three) and Miller-Bell (three) combined for nearly half of last year's 23 goals scored.

  

Series Histories | Last Meeting

 

PC won the last two matchups with Winthrop, 3-1 and 2-0, but the Eagles own an 18-2 series lead. Yacine Tchemmoun and Clement Vannier led PC to a 2-0 win at Eagle Field last season.

 

Radford leads the series 7-3-2, but PC is 1-0-2 over the last three matchups. In last season’s Big South Tournament, PC advanced to the championship game on penalty kicks (5-3) after tying Radford 0-0 during 110 minutes.

 

Scouting the Eagles

 

Winthrop won their season opener over Georgia Southwestern, 6-0. Since then, they have dropped six games in a row and been outscored 13-5. Most recently, Winthrop suffered a 1-0 home loss to High Point.

 

Jordan Walshaw and Leif Estevez lead the team with seven points (2G, 3A) each. Jack Pondy is the team’s top goalie with 19 saves and a 2.18 goals against average.

 

Scouting the Highlanders

 

Radford plays at Gardner-Webb on Wednesday, October 3. The Highlanders picked up road wins over West Virginia, 4-1, and Longwood, 4-2, after dropping their first five of the year.

 

Freshman Amadou Diop scored two goals in the win at West Virginia and leads the team with 10 points (4G, 2A) on the year. The team has used three goalies on the season, but Sam Farrell (2-0) recorded four saves and a 1.50 goals against average over the last two games.
