Returning Champions

 

The Blue Hose returned nine starters from last year’s Big South Championship team. Those starters include: Clement VannierJakob LuedtkeLuca ZieglerYacine TchemmounAndrew Miller-BellVictor MenudierSergio PintoRicardo Hernandez and Adrian Edo Martin. Vannier (five), Pinto (three) and Miller-Bell (three) combined for nearly half of last year's 23 goals scored.

 

Road Trip

 

The men’s soccer team is in the middle a four-game road trip that includes back-to-back ranked ACC teams (No. 14 NC State, No. 1 Wake Forest) before heading to Furman and Georgia State. PC will next play at home on September 18 against Belmont University.

 

Scouting Wake Forest

 

Wake Forest picked up a 3-1 road victory at Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday night. Bruno Lapa continued his hot start to the season by scoring a pair of goals. The junior has nine points (3 goals, 3 assists) in three games. 

 

The Deacs are 58-8-7 under head coach Bobby Muuss and lead the nation in wins since 2015.

 

Wake Forest was ranked No. 5 in the nation in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll and has moved up to No. 1 in the weekly poll. The Deacs have been ranked in the top five in 23 consecutive polls dating back to the middle of the 2016 season.

 

The Deacs were picked to repeat as the ACC Atlantic Division champion in the ACC preseason poll. North Carolina is projected to win the Coastal Division and overall title.

 

Wake Forest sent seven into the MLS ranks following the 2017 season yet brought in the No. 2 recruiting class in the country headlined by four top-50 recruits.
