Series History | Last Meeting


Radford leads the series 8-3-2, but PC is 1-1-2 over the last four matchups. The series has gone to overtime five consecutive times. Earlier this season, on October 6, Radford won 1-0 off a goal from Kieran Roberts in the 110th minute.


In last season’s Big South Tournament, PC advanced to the championship game on penalty kicks (5-3) after going scoreless for 110 minutes. Radford advanced to the championship game in 2016 on penalty kicks (4-3) after tying with PC 1-1 in regulation.


Scouting the Highlanders


Radford picked up a 3-1 win over USC Upstate in the regular season finale. Freshman Amadou Diop scored his team-leading ninth goal and also recorded his team-best fifth assist. He has 23 points on the season.


Sam Farrell leads the team with 10 starts in goal, 7-3-0 record, 44 saves, 1.23 GAA and a save percentage of 0.772. Farrell recorded nine saves against PC in Radford’s 1-0 win on October 6, 2018.


All-Conference Honors

The PC men’s soccer team placed a program-best seven players on All-Conference teams after the conclusion of the 2018 regular season. Jordan Barbara earned a spot on the First Team while three players (Marcos Kitromilides, Luca Ziegler and Jan Hoffelner) earned Second Team honors. Two more players were named to the Honorable Mention Team (Sergio Pinto and Victor Menudier), Ricardo Hernandez was named to the All-Academic team and Kitromilides doubled up with All-Freshman team honors.


Updating The Record Book


With their 3-0 win over Longwood, the Blue Hose moved into a tie with the 2017 team with goals (23), assists (19) and points (65). They also rank first in shots (263), shots on goal (122) and tied the 2016 team with their seventh game-winning goal. Goalie Jan Hoffelner and his defense have posted five shutouts, which ranks second behind last season’s six clean sheets.


Marcos Kitromilides is tied for second with six goals on the year. He trails Mason Lewis (8, 2016) by two goals.


Luca Ziegler is tied for second with four assists this season. He trails Ignacio Monchetti (6, 2016) by two assists.


Clement Vannier has taken a program-best 21 shots on goal this season and scored four goals.


With three saves against Longwood, Jan Hoffelner moved to 43 saves on the season which ranks 10th for the program. Hoffelner ranks second with five shutouts and a goals against average of 1.11. Connor Behrend holds both records with six shutouts and 0.94 GAA in 2017.


Scoring Breakdown


Marcos Kitromilides leads the team with 12 points off a team-high six goals. Jordan Barbara has 11 points (4G, 3A) in 13 games played. Sergio Pinto has 9 points (3G, 3A), Clement Vannier has 9 points (4G, 1A), Adrian Edo Martin has 6 points (3G), Plammen Mangarov has four points (1G, 2A) and Luca Ziegler has 4 points off a team-high four assists. Yacine Tchemmoun (1G, 1A), Ricardo Hernandez (1G, 1A), Harry Able (2A), Victor Menudier (1A) and Andrew Miller-Bell (1A) all have points as well.


Against Ranked Opponents


The Blue Hose have squared off against four ranked teams in 2018. PC scrimmaged No. 9 North Carolina (2-1, L) during the preseason and played back-to-back games at No. 1 Wake Forest (4-1, L) and No. 6 NC State (2-0, L) to start the year. In the regular season finale, PC battled No. 12 High Point for 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss.


Returning Champions


The Blue Hose returned nine starters from last year’s Big South Championship team. Vannier (five), Pinto (three) and Miller-Bell (three) combined for nearly half of last year's 23 goals scored.
