Series History | Last Meeting
PC holds a 5-4 series lead over Longwood, winning the last three matchups 2-0, 1-0 and 2-0. The Blue Hose defeated the Lancers 2-0 on October 20 in what was the team’s Senior Day. Adrian Edo Martin (16’) converted a penalty kick, and Macros Kitromilides (84’) sealed the game with his fifth goal of the season.
Scouting the Lancers
The Lancers enter the game 2-7-1 over their last ten games and haven’t won a road game since September 22 (UNC Asheville). However, that stretch includes a 2-1 double overtime loss at High Point (Oct. 6) and a 2-0 defeat against #17 NC State (Oct. 9).
Longwood earned the No. 6 seed after beating No. 4 seeded Campbell in their regular season finale, 3-0, on October 31. The victory moved the Lancers into a tie with USC Upstate with 10 points. The two tied 2-2 in their regular season matchup, and the Big South used their third tiebreaker (giving four points for wins against higher seeds, three points for wins against identical Conference points, and two points for wins against lower ranked teams) to determine the final seed. Longwood advanced over USC Upstate, 11 points to 10 points.
Markus Gronli leads the team with 14 points (4 goals, 6 assists) on the season. Willy Miezan leads the team with six goals scored. Jacob Reimers leads the team with a 4-7-1 record in goal, making 54 saves in 15 appearances. He allows 2.42 goals per game and has a save percentage of .628.
Jordan Barbara leads the team with 11 points (4G, 3A) in just 13 games. Marcos Kitromilides has 10 points (5G), Sergio Pinto has 8 points (3G, 2A), Clement Vannier has 7 points (3G, 1A), Adrian Edo Martin has 6 points (3G) and Luca Ziegler has 4 points off a team-high four assists. Yacine Tchemmoun (1G, 1A), Ricardo Hernandez (1G), Plammen Mangarov (2A), Harry Able (2A) and Andrew Miller-Bell (1A) all have points as well.
Against Ranked Opponents
The Blue Hose have squared off against four ranked teams in 2018. PC scrimmaged No. 9 North Carolina (2-1, L) during the preseason and played back-to-back games at No. 1 Wake Forest (4-1, L) and No. 6 NC State (2-0, L) to start the year. In the regular season finale, PC battled No. 12 High Point for 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss.
The Blue Hose returned nine starters from last year’s Big South Championship team. Those starters include: Clement Vannier, Jakob Luedtke, Luca Ziegler, Yacine Tchemmoun, Andrew Miller-Bell, Victor Menudier, Sergio Pinto, Ricardo Hernandez and Adrian Edo Martin. Vannier (five), Pinto (three) and Miller-Bell (three) combined for nearly half of last year's 23 goals scored.
