CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College Athletic Department announced the addition of Anne Marie Covar as the new women’s golf head coach on Thursday. She becomes the third coach in program history.

“Anne Marie quickly caught our attention because of her playing and coaching experience at institutions similar to PC,” said Athletic Director Rob Acunto. “We continued to be impressed after meeting her in person. She is a strong addition to the PC family, and I look forward to Anne Marie leading our women’s golf program to new heights.”

Covar comes to PC after three seasons with the Erskine College women’s golf team. She joined the staff in 2016 as an assistant coach and was elevated to head coach prior to the 2018 season. During her tenure, the Fleet set and reset school records for 18, 36 and 54 holes. In her second season, she helped coach Annia Werge to the individual 18-hole school records as well as the team to the 2018 Coker Cobra Spring Women’s Invitational title.

Last season, under her leadership, Anna Parramore broke the individual 54-hole program record with a runner-up finish at the Conference Carolinas Championship. Erskine then went on to win the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Regional and finish runners-up at the NCCAA Nationals, where the team again set a 54-hole school record.

"I would like to thank Rob Acunto and Dee Nichols for this amazing opportunity to lead the women's golf program here at Presbyterian College," said Covar. "I'm excited to start a new chapter at PC and can't wait for the season to get started! Everyone at PC has been so welcoming and I want to thank them for making PC already feel like home. Go Blue Hose!!"

Covar had a successful collegiate career at Wofford (2010-14) where she logged a pair of individual wins and set the 54-hole record for the Terriers. She was named the SoCon Freshman of the Year in 2011 and earned a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman Team.

After graduating from Wofford with a degree in accounting in 2014, Covar began teaching golf lessons. She also played professionally from 2015-17, was a member of the Suncoast Tour from 2015-16, and competed in LPGA Qualifying School. She is Level 1 Certified from the Titleist Performance Institute.
