Arden, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s golf team finished fifth at the French Broad Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday with Maiken Bing Paulsen claiming third and Julie Hillestad tying for sixth. The Blue Hose combined for a two-day score of 621 (310, 311) at the par-71, 5897 yard course at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove.

Paulsen tied for the tournament lead with six birdies and earned her program-best 11th career top-10 finish with a third place showing at 146 (72, 74). Hillestad earned her first collegiate top-10 finish with a 36-hole collegiate-best score of 149 (74, 75). The freshman also led the team with 21 pars.

Serina Combs (t37) improved to 164 (84, 80), Ann Elizabeth Gore (t50) shot 169 (80, 89), and Taylor Gardner (t52) climbed to 170 (88, 82).

Appalachian State won the team title with a combined score of 611 (306, 305). USC Beaufort’s Blanca Porta (143) held on to win individual medalist honors. Radford’s Beatriz Mosquera Quintas birdied her final hole to break a tie with Paulsen and claim second place at 145.

Wofford and Gardner-Webb tied for second at 613. USC Upstate claimed fourth at 618. PC finished fifth with UNCA (629), USC Beaufort (631), Longwood (631), Radford (636), Lipscomb (638) and Northern Kentucky (650) also competing.

Presbyterian College travels next to the Edisto Island Invitational at The Plantation Course from March 30-April 1.
