Arden, N.C. – Presbyterian College’s Maiken Bing Paulsen and Julie Hillestad both finished inside the top-10 after one round of the French Broad Collegiate Invitational on Monday. The Blue Hose are tied for fourth with a combined score of 310 on the par-71, 5897 yard course at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove.

Paulsen is tied for second place after shooting an opening round of 72 (+1) with a team-high two birdies and 13 pars to go against three bogeys. Hillestad finished her round of 74 (+3) by going -1 over the last five holes of the day and climbing to a sixth place tie.

Ann Elizabeth Gore (t32) shot a first round score of 80, Serina Combs (t46) shot 84, and Taylor Gardner (t53) shot 88.

South Carolina Beaufort’s Blanca Porta went -3 over her last 11 holes, including an eagle on No. 6, to move past Paulsen for first place at 70 (-1) on the day. Wofford combined to shoot 302 and holds a four-stroke lead over second place Appalachian State.

The field of 11 teams will tee-off with a 10:00 am shotgun start on Tuesday for the tournament’s final round. Fans can follow along via Golfstat’s live scoring feature.
