CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's soccer team (1-1-0, 1-0-0 Big South) battles a pair of non-conference foes when the East Tennessee State Buccaneers (1-1-0) visit Laurens County on Friday at 7 p.m. before the Blue Hose head to Spartanburg, S.C. for a Monday evening matchup at USC Upstate (1-1-0).
Friday's home game will be broadcast on the Big South Network.
The Blue Hose enter coming off of a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over Big South Conference foe Longwood on Tuesday night. Ignacio Monchetti tied the contest in the 75th minute to force extra time, and Jonny Mercado tucked away a penalty shot in the 101st minute to give PC its second league-opening win in a row.
ETSU will bring a 1-1-0 record to Edens Field at Martin Stadium after splitting contests at Appalachian Stae (L 0-1) and against UNC Greensboro (W 3-1). David Geno has scored two of the team's three goals and has added an assist for a team-leading five points. The Buccaneers handed the Blue Hose a season-opening 3-0 loss in Johnson City, Tenn., in 2011.
USC Upstate sports a 1-1 record following a 1-0 loss to Clemson in its season debut and a 1-0 victory over UNC Asheville on Monday. Goalkeeper Dani Alvarado made 12 saves against the Tigers to earn Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week honors and Dave Musambi has the team's lone goal. The Blue Hose will look for their first win in the 23rd meeting between the two sides. The Spartans edged PC by a 2-0 margin last year.
Goalkeeper Tyler Beadle (Douglasville, Ga.) has provided a steady presence in front of the net, stopping 19 shots in the first two games of the season. Byron Quinatoa (Santo Domingos de los Colorados, Ecuador) will also look for his first goal of the season, leading the team with six shots and two on goal.
Next up for the Blue Hose, PC plays Mercer on Saturday, September 8 before a trip to Colorado to face Denver and Air Force.
