PC Cheerleaders Attend CAMP

The Presbyterian College Cheerleading team participated in the Christ is my Pal Camp (CAMP) for the second straight year and spent the day with first and third graders from the Clinton area elementary schools.

CAMP is a two- week camp that is sponsored by members of the First Presbyterian Church.  While volunteers teach the campers Bible Stories, they also take them to the zoo and teach them arts & crafts.  Campers are also taken swimming to help get away from the summer heat.

The CAMP director is Livia Johnson who cheered at PC all four years and graduated in 2003.  Susan Satterfield, who is the co-director and also the lead teacher, is a former cheerleader and a PC graduate as well.

The Blue Hose participated in camp by teaching various motions, cheers and jumps.  Many of the cheerleaders, as well as Coach Laurie Addison, are members of First Presbyterian Church.

"I think it is a wonderful way to give back to the community," said Coach Addison.  "The campers were so excited to see the cheerleaders in their uniforms.  One of the campers told me it was the best day ever."

The cheerleaders return to campus in early August to prepare for the upcoming season.
