Women's Lacrosse Drops Contest to Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team dropped its regular season finale on Saturday, falling by a 22-6 margin to Jacksonville on the road.

PC moves to 2-15 and 1-6 in the National Lacrosse Conference. Jacksonville improves to 12-4 and 6-1 in the NLC. Both teams will play in the first road of the NLC Tournament on Friday at Davidson College in Davidson, N.C.

Brianne Ward (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Catherine Ellis (Charlotte, N.C.) paced the Blue Hose with two goals each. Jaime Beamish (Memphis, Tenn.) added two points on a goal and an assist as well.

Goalkeeper Samantha Arey (New Albany, Ohio) collected a team-high three ground balls and made four saves in the effort. Susan England (Bethesda, Md.) and Jamie Carlson (Norcross, Ga.) also made three saves each in relief.

PC scored three goals in each half. Fourteen different Dolphins scored a goal for Jacksonville.

Jacksonville scored the game's first four goals before Ward put PC on the board from the free position. PC notched its second goal after a seven-goal Jacksonville run on an Ellis goal from a Beamish assist, her fourth straight game with a helper.

Lauren Lefeber (Waxhaw, N.C.) potted her 17th goal of the season with 23 seconds left in the half on a free position shot to make the score 12-3 heading into halftime.

The Dolphins scored the opening goal of the second half before Ellis answered on a Megan Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md.) assist. The play gave Ellis her 45th goal of the season.

After five Dolphin goals, Beamish found the net with 15:26 remaining thanks to an assist from Kelsey Rupsch (Libertyville, Ill.).

PC added one more goal as Ward converted a free position attempt with 4:29 as Jacksonville took the win, 22-6.

The Blue Hose will await the conclusion of Saturday's NLC matches to determine who they will face in the first round of the NLC Tournament.
